Synopsis for 1st story

Dr. Huber and emergency responders work to save Allegra while her deputy, Keres, explains how she was wounded in an attack by warriors from Fortress Garadis.  Keres wants Allegra’s job and demands she be prosecuted for visiting the forbidden planetary surface, but Huber ignores her.  Allegra recalls flying a fighter jet and being attacked but her memories abruptly shift to the fight against the warriors.  An apparition that looks like her briefly appears, and then she comes to in a regenerative creche.  Huber reminds her who she is:  Allegra, lead protector of the Midian sky colony.  Her parents were killed in the 2046 plague that wiped out 99.9% of everyone on Earth.  Huber and a man named Tullus built the first sky colony, Paradis, but had a falling out over armed defense.  Tullus then built the colony Kioram while Huber created Midian which Allegra has defended for 12 years.  As she emerges and dons her combat armor, Huber dismisses her other memories as glitches in the healing process.  J, an emissary from Kioram, arrives to meet with Huber so he orders Allegra to leave. Curious, she hides nearby and eavesdrops.  Soon, they spot her, but then armored Garadis warriors assault the colony.  Allegra springs into action and joins Keres in repelling them.  She tries to interrogate one but catches a stray blast in her back, sending her plummeting to the surface below.  Raggedy surface dwellers find her unconscious and carry her away.

Trivia

  • The jet Allegra remembers flying is a U.S. F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter. The aircraft that fired at her were YF-23 prototype stealth fighters.
