HistoryEdit

The Alternate Mark Graysons are alternate versions of Invincible. Few have altruistic motives and are good. Most of them just happen to be dangerous, ruthless, and evil. With a few of those, their fathers always raised them to take over, whether they were raised on Earth or not. With the other evil ones, there was something else that turned them evil. For a lot of those, it was Atom Eve being hurt or killed that made them snap. The first 19 listed here fought in the Invincible War, while the others listed here are others who appeared or have been mentioned throughout the Invincible series. The first 16 who first appeared in Invincible #58 are the ones in the main picture for this article and the Start Picture below.[1]

Alternate Mark 1

EvilMarks

The evil Alternate Marks shown at the start of the Invincible War, aka the Start Picture.

(First row, First column, next to "somewhere else".) In his dimension, Alternate Mark One was very familiar with Rex Splode, and how his powers and equipment worked. On the second day of the Invincible War, the first alternate Mark injured Bulletproof and severely injured Monster Girl before threatening to kill her and being attacked by Bulletproof again. The alternate Mark then fought Rex Splode who sacrificed himself by converting his skeleton into a suicide bomb to kill the villain and save his teammates.

Alternate Mark 2

(First Row, Second Column)

SecondMark

Alternate Mark Two fighting

Alternate Mark Two fought Kurr Dragon, Mighty Man II, Angelica Murphy, and Superpatriot on the second day. He knocked Mighty Man and Superpatriot down while Savage Dragon jumped on him. He then choked Savage Dragon and shoved him against a structure. Savage Dragon killed Alternate Mark Two, who was later converted into a Reanimen.[2]

Alternate Mark 3

(First Row, Third Column) Alternate Mark Three killed the Atom Eve of his dimension quickly, because he fought the mainstream Atom Eve on the first day and told her he would kill her slowly. She escaped and reunited with the mainstream Invincible. Alternate Mark Three next fought Jackie Estacado on the second day. Then, Alternate Mark three would go lay waste to Paris by the third day before becoming stranded in an alternate dimension with the other seven alive Alternate Marks.

Alternate Mark 4

(First Row, Fourth Column) Alternate Mark Four killed his mother in his dimension. Then, his father destroyed his childhood house, before he could kill his father. In the Invincible War, Alternate Mark Four fought Oliver Grayson on the first day, who was convinced he could defeat the villain. The Alternate Mark told Oliver that if he kept saying that he would eventually believe it, and that he will have to earn the Omni-Man symbol on his chest. After fighting Oliver, who escaped to his house, Alternate Mark Four laid waste to Syndey by the third day and met up with the other seven surviving Alternate Marks above his house. Alternate Mark Four confessed that he was happy to see his childhood home. He was then stranded in an alternate dimension with the others by Angstrom Levy.

Alternate Mark 5

(Second Row, First Column) Distinguishable by his mustache. Alternate Mark Five was killed by a female superhero on the second day and was later converted into a Reanimen.[3]

Alternate Mark 6

(Second Row, Second Column) On the second day, Alternate Mark Six fought the Cyberforce, who he was very familiar with before they disbanded in his dimension, and eventually the mainstream Mark and Atom Eve, who arrived later in the fight. During this, he critically injured Eve and was killed by the mainstream Mark who is shown bloody but not injured.

Alternate Mark 7

(Second Row, Third Column)

Alternate Mark Seven killed his father in his dimension, and his costume appeared to be similar to Omni-Man's. Alternate Mark Seven fought Shadowhawk and Madman on the second day.[4] Alternate Mark Seven was strangled to death by Madman's Yo-Yo and was later converted into a Reanimen.[5]

Alternate Mark 8

(Second Row, Fourth Column) Alternate Mark Eight would wear Viltrumite attire. He killed Spawn in his dimension, and ironically fights him in New York City in the mainstream dimension on the first day. The Alternate Mark threatens that he will kill Spawn again, who merely poses to an imaginary audience. Alternate Mark Eight would then lay waste to a major city by the third day before being stranded in an alternate dimension with the seven other surviving Alternate Marks. One of those seven was Alternate Mark Sixteen, or Sinister Mark. The eight of them talked a lot while stranded, mostly about what turned them evil. Weeks passed, and the seven of them realized that the eighth one was a jerk, so because they were starving to death they all ate him. Alternate Mark Fourteen flew away, but the other six Alternate Marks ate each other until only Sinister Mark, Alternate Mark Eight, and Alternate Mark Seventeen remained. Then, Alternate Mark Eight and Sinister Mark ate Alternate Mark Seventeen, and finally Sinister Mark turned on Alternate Mark Eight and killed him.

Alternate Mark 9

(Third Row, First Column) Alternate Mark Nine would wear Bulletproof's costume, the one Invincible rejected in the mainstream dimension. This Alternate Mark would strangely not arrive until the second day, as he is not shown in the Start Picture. When he does arrive, he goes to the Pentagon like Alternate Mark Thirteen did the day before, and he makes it to the White Room where he would be strangled and killed by the militarized Reanimen. He would actually not be converted into a Reanimen, because his body was too mutilated.

Alternate Mark 10

(Third Row, Second Column) Alternate Mark Ten would fight Sara Pezzini on the second day. She would kill him, but not without him severely injuring her.

Alternate Mark 11

(Third Row, Third Column) Distinguishable by veiny head. He is supposed to be an homage to Anakin Skywalker after he is severely burnt by lava in Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith. Alternate Mark Eleven would be in a Viltrumite prison for nearly a year in his dimension. He would vow revenge on his father and fly through the Kremlin at the same time on the first day. By the third day, he would lay waste to Moscow and his costume was somewhat torn. He would then be stranded in an alternate dimension with the remaining seven Alternate Marks.

Alternate Mark 12

(Third Row, Fourth Column) Alternate Mark Twelve would easily defeat the Guardians of the Globe on the second day, who were not as strong and respected as in his dimension. He would injure Black Samson, Shapesmith, and Darkwing II. He would then kill many of Dupli-Kate's duplicates and decapitate The Immortal to throw his head into a duplicate's body. Darkwing would then sacrifice himself and take the Alternate Mark into the Shadowverse in order save his teammates. While there, Alternate Mark 12 would kill Darkwing, thereby trapping himself and eventually killing him.

Alternate Mark 13

(Fourth Row, First Column) Alternate Mark Thirteen would wear Flaxan attire. On the first day he would attack the Pentagon and be killed by Brit and Donald Ferguson. Cecil Stedman would break his arm and get a bloody nose while the duo fought him. He would actually not be converted into a Reanimen, because his body was too mutilated.

Alternate Mark 14 (Mohawk Mark)

(Fourth Row, Second Column) Distinguishable by his Mohawk. In his dimension, Mohawk Mark and Atom Eve had grown close after Rex cheated on her with Kate. However, there was something off about Mohawk Mark, like he was just not entirely human (which he isn't, but you get what that means). He didn't see things the same way others did. There were little things, but the Teen Team members mostly ignored them. What happened was, Mohawk Mark realized how different he was from the people of his planet, and how stupid it was for him to waste any time protecting them and fighting them without getting anything in return. He realized that the people of Earth could be worshiping him. Then, Omni-Man enlisted him and Mohawk Mark actually thought the Teen Team would help him take over the planet. Eve actually considered it, but after he killed Rex, whom she was no longer in love with but very close with, she fought him. Mohawk Mark then killed her, Kate, and who he thought was Robot (he and everyone else was unaware that Robot was not just a robot). Next, Mohawk Mark went to the Mauler Twins of his dimension and tore off the head of the one without the nose ring before they or him could talk. Mohawk Mark also destroyed the remaining Mauler's cloning equipment. Finally, a chain of events transpired in which Omni-Man, Thaedus, and Thula were killed and Mohawk Mark was appointed emperor of the Viltrumites. Thragg was cast out and led a rebellion. Because he was not a superhero in this dimension, he did not kill Conquest. They took over Earth and set up their high-tech power center citadel in the Pentagon, and General Kregg was appointed to oversee the science commission with Earth scientists they likely enslaved. Conquest was the main sentry for the planet, and Anissa and Lucan were assigned other lead roles.

A long time passed. The Viltrumite forces hounded the remaining Mauler at every turn and prevented him from cloning himself again. The remaining Mauler was not able to rebuild his equipment or find a place to be alone with his work. However, when he saw the governments of the world overthrown and seeing one power trying to manage the planet and not working, he saw the error of their ways and wanted to stop them and restore order. Also, Monster Girl never met Robot, who never found a cure to her reverse aging, so she digressed into an infant and became an even stronger and larger but more sleepy monster when she transformed. Most of Earth's citizens who still lived knew it as "The Monster", and the Viltruimtes captured it. When the Viltrumites unleashed the beast themselves it was difficult to contain. Meanwhile, Angstrom Levy would arrive in Mohawk Mark's dimension and offered him assistance in expanding his empire to other dimensions. Mohawk mark accepted his offer and took place in the Invincible War.

On the first day, Mohawk Mark would destroy part of Stronghold Penitentiary with ease, surprised at how low-tech it is. Original Mark would battle him as they are evenly matched in strength. He would smash his fist against the Alternate Mark's temples and render Mohawk Mark temporarily unconscious. He would recover to fly through a building on the second day and lay waste to New York City by the third day. He would be stranded into another dimension with the seven other surviving Alternate Marks. One of those seven was Alternate Mark Sixteen, or Sinister Mark. The eight of them talked a lot while stranded, mostly about what turned them evil. Weeks passed, and the seven of them realized that the eighth one was a jerk, so because they were starving to death they all ate him. It was him or them, and Mohawk Mark hated him so much he almost did not want to eat him. Mohawk Mark decided not to eat any of them else, because cannibalism is horrible, and left and had to drink his own sweat and other stuff. He also grew a mini-goatee. The other six Alternate Marks ate each other until only Sinister Mark, Alternate Mark Eight, and Alternate Mark Seventeen remained. Sinister Mark would go insane and find and attempt to eat Mohawk Mark, but Mohawk Mark escaped.

Later still, the mainstream Mark was stranded in that dimension as well with Mohawk Mark and Sinister Mark, who had killed and eaten Alternate Mark Seventeen with Alternate Mark Eight, and killed and was now eating Alternate Mark Eight. Mohawk Mark saw the mainstream Mark being attacked by Sinister Mark, and not knowing who he was due to the new costume, slammed Sinister Mark away and flew away with the mainstream Mark. Mohawk Mark would tell the mainstream Mark that they should work together to stop Sinister Mark from eating them both. While flying, Mohawk Mark talks to the mainstream Mark a lot and confesses that it is really nice to be able to do so. He would then help the mainstream Mark fight Sinister Mark and he would pummel him until Sinister Mark died. Mohawk Mark shouted at the dead Sinister Mark how he made him eat another person, and how he planned the cannibalism by turning the Alternate Marks against each other. The mainstream Mark tried to stop Mohawk Mark but it was too late, and then Angstrom Levy opened up a portal back to the mainstream dimension. The mainstream Mark would instantly spot it and return home, but be trapped by Angstrom. Mohawk Mark then also re-entered the mainstream dimension and fought Angstrom, until the mainstream Mark reminded him that he cannot return Mohawk Mark home if he is dead, and then Angstrom traps Mohawk Mark. Angstrom has a change of heart and apologizes to the mainstream Mark for everything he has done, before letting them both go. He opens up a portal to Mohawk Mark's dimension, who pulls Angstrom in with him before it closes.

Mohawk Mark would torture Angstrom so that he would fulfill his promise of giving him access to other dimensions he could conquer and could add to his empire. Angstrom would refuse due to his new-found responsibility of doing the good he originally set out to do before his accident. So instead Mohawk Mark would have his scientists cut the power out of Angstrom, while keeping him alive until that is accomplished. Meanwhile, Mohawk Mark would shave off his mini-goatee. He also started to miss Atom Eve, so he would hire cos-playing prostitutes with ginger Mohawks to live in his personal chambers dressed up like her. He also realized how terrible the majority of his Alternate Dimensional counterparts are. Even more time passed. Eventually, the original mainstream Mark would have the mainstream Robot figure out how to visit Mohawk Mark's dimension and rescue Angstrom Levy. Conquest would bring them to Mohawk Mark's personal chambers, believing they are negotiators from Thragg's rebels. However, Mohawk Mark recognizes the mainstream Mark from his last visit to the mainstream dimension and asks Conquest to leave. The mainstream Mark is uncomfortable with the prostitute Atom Eves, and Mohawk Mark simply tells him that in his dimension she died and he needed to fill the void. He is, however, still grateful towards the mainstream Mark for providing his escape from the alternate dimension where Angstrom trapped him in, so all is forgiven.

The mainstream Mark asks about Angstrom, which Mohawk Mark understands and says that he had it taken care of, but also knows that the mainstream Mark still does not trust him. So, he shows the mainstream Mark and Robot where his scientists are holding Angstrom, and explains that he is only keeping Angstrom alive until his scientists succeed. The mainstream Mark is horrified, which confuses Mohawk Mark, who thought that from what the mainstream Mark said that he was going to make sure Angstrom was dead or kill him himself. The conflicted mainstream Mark admits that he was not going to torture Angstrom if he was still alive. Mohawk Mark tells the mainstream Mark how if something would turn him evil, he could rule his world. The mainstream Robot then realizes how the mainstream Mark could foil his plans, and seizes the opportunity to activate a sonic pulse which is lethal to Viltrumites, and makes both Mohawk Mark and mainstream Mark cringe. The mainstream Robot also kills Mohawk Mark's scientists so there are no witnesses, and then fires a bomb into Mohawk Mark's mouth It burrows into Mohawk Mark's esophagus, and because his insides are somewhat more vulnerable than his outsides, when it explodes it blasts out his eyeballs and causes his internal organs to burst in his throat. This, of course, kills Mohawk Mark, and then the mainstream Robot proceeds to kill Angstrom Levy himself, strand the mainstream Mark in Mohawk Mark's dimension leading to the events of Invincible #109, and take over the world.[6]

Alternate Mark 15

(Fourth Row, Third Column) Alternate Mark 15 does not have a version of Tech Jacket (Zack Thompson) in his dimension, and would ironically fight him on the first day. Caught off-guard by his power, Alternate Mark Fifteen is killed by him.

Alternate Mark 16 (Sinister Mark)

(Fourth Row, Fourth Column) Someone killed Sinister Mark's mother in his childhood house in his dimension, which is what most likely turned him evil. Besides that, people in his dimension are more evil than usual. For instance, the Duncan Roseblatt, or Firebreather, of his dimension is known as the king of all monsters, and one of the most ferocious villains Sinister Mark has ever faced. He also does not have a version of Oliver Grayson in his dimension. Sinister Mark became the most horrible being of his entire dimension, eventually creating an empire and developing a liking towards cannibalism and human flesh while looking for more ways to torture his enemies. Sinister Mark would eventually be approached by Angstrom Levy, who said he would help him expand his empire into countless dimensions if he took place in his master plan, the Invincible War. Sinister Mark accepted, and led the charge into the mainstream dimension with fifteen other Alternate Marks on the first day of the War (as seen in the Start Picture), and noted how evil they all were, but all the same person.

Sinister Mark would go to Nevada on the first day and fight the mainstream Firebreather, who is not as strong or evil here. After defeating him easily, Sinister Mark would go to his childhood home in the mainstream dimension on the second day. He would be looking for his mother, who he would now despise. Instead, Sinister Mark runs into Oliver Grayson, fights him, and realizes that he is a lesser Viltrumite and cannot possibly defeat him. Before killing him, Sinister Mark surprisingly lets Oliver live before leaving. Sinister Mark does not know where else his mother would be in this dimension, so he gives up that pursuit. He would lay waste to a major city by the third day, and meet up with the other seven surviving Alternate Marks above his childhood home in the mainstream dimension. Sinister Mark would admit that he still hated coming back to his childhood home in any dimension, because of what happened there in his dimension. Angstrom Levy arrives and tells them that the entire War was "phase one", and "phase two" would entail the remaining Alternate Marks bring the mainstream Mark to Angstrom so that they could punish him. Instead, Sinister Mark tells Angstrom off. He points out that there are only eight remaining Alternate Marks left from the nineteen that there were when this started. He also points out that the mainstream dimension is in shambles, and that they should move on to a new one or kill Angstrom. This results in him being banished to an alternate dimension by Angstrom without food or water, followed by the seven other Alternate Marks. One of those seven was Alternate Mark Fourteen, or Mohawk Mark. Sinister Mark shouts that they cannot be contained, and he vows to find a way out of there and kill Angstrom.

The eight of them talked a lot while stranded, mostly about what turned them evil. Weeks passed, and the seven of them realized that the eighth one was a jerk, so because they were starving to death they all ate him. Mohawk Mark flew away, but the other six Alternate Marks ate each other until only Sinister Mark, Alternate Mark Eight, and Alternate Mark Seventeen remained. Then, Alternate Mark Eight and Sinister Mark ate Alternate Mark Seventeen, and Sinister Mark remembered how he would sometimes resort to cannibalism in his dimension and that he liked the taste of human flesh. Meanwhile, he has grown really long hair and a short beard. Sinister Mark would go insane and find and attempt to eat Mohawk Mark, but Mohawk Mark escaped. Finally, Sinister Mark turned on Alternate Mark Eight and killed him. While Sinister Mark was eating him, the mainstream Mark would be banished into that alternate dimension as well.[7] The mainstream Mark, confused, would approach Sinister Mark eating Alternate Mark Eight next to five other skeletons.

Sinister Mark would invite the mainstream Mark to eat Alternate Mark Eight with him, admitting that there is a lot of thigh left, he just started eating him because he recently killed him, and how thigh is the best part. Sinister Mark says that he thought Alternate Mark Eight was the last one, in reality forgetting about Mohawk Mark, but says how he forgot about the mainstream Mark, who he believed was one of the seven stranded with him. As the mainstream Mark realizes who Sinister Mark is, Sinister Mark says that he cannot believe that the Alternate Marks thought that Sinister Mark planned the cannibalism, because he did not believe that he would be the last one to survive. Sinister Mark reveals how desperate and starving the Alternate Marks where after a few weeks, and how the first one they ate was the worst of them all. Then, Sinister Mark starts to question if the mainstream Mark is real or if they ate him already, but by grabbing him Sinister Mark determines that the mainstream Mark is real and has been stranded only recently. The mainstream Mark punches Sinister Mark away, who says how his hunger never goes away, but also that he is bored. He thanks the mainstream Mark for putting up a fight, and proclaims that the winner shall eat the loser and Alternate Mark Eight. The mainstream Mark tells him how he could help him get back to Sinister Mark's home dimension, but he ignores the comment and says that the Alternate Marks did not get weaker as they got more hungry, and that the mainstream Mark is weak from not being stranded for weeks. The mainstream Mark protests that he only wants to help, and Sinister Mark reveals that the only way he can help him is if he lets him eat him. The mainstream Mark then attempts to fly faster than him to get away, with Sinister Mark in pursuit.

Eventually, Sinister Mark grabs the mainstream Mark and throws him to the ground. Sinister Mark starts to tell him how what he had to do in order to survive has made himself the stronger one, when Mohawk Mark arrives and slams Sinister Mark away. Mohawk Mark and the mainstream Mark fly away and talk, but soon Sinister Mark finds them. Without even noticing Mohawk Mark, Sinister Mark grabs onto the mainstream Mark, who knocks him away and tells him how he now has a partner. At that moment, Mohawk Mark flies with Sinister Mark into the ground and pummels him repeatedly. Mohawk Mark shouts how they could have found a way out of the alternate dimension together, but Sinister Mark turned them against each other and was the worst of them. Mohawk Mark then beats Sinister Mark to death. The mainstream Mark tried to stop Mohawk Mark but it was too late, and then Angstrom Levy opened up a portal back to the mainstream dimension.

Other Alternate Marks

In the Start Picture, there are 16 Alternate Marks like in the main picture. However, Alternate Mark Nine is not there, which means that there is an Alternate Mark Seventeen. This also means that the Alternate Marks in the Invincible War are not actually limited to the 16 who first appeared in Invincible #58, but still must be less than 20.[8] The other Alternate Marks listed in this section are others who appeared or have been mentioned throughout the Invincible series.

Alternate Mark 17
LondonMark

Alternate Mark Seventeen can be seen in the Start Picture instead of Alternate Mark Nine with fifteen other Alternate Marks

Alternate Mark Seventeen was one of the many Alternate Marks who ran an empire in their respective dimensions. He was recruited by Angstrom Levy to take place in the Invincible War. Alternate Mark Seventeen accepted, and arrived on the first day (as seen in the Start Picture). On that first day, Alternate Mark Seventeen would go to London and fight Jackstaff, while he set Big Ben on fire. On the second day, Jackstaff would want a rematch and jab him with his staff. Later, he punched Jackstaff in the jaw attempting to kill him, but instead rendering him unconscious. By the third day Alternate Mark Seventeen would lay waste to London before being stranded in another dimension with the seven other surviving Alternate Marks. Then, Alternate Mark Eight and Sinister Mark ate Alternate Mark Seventeen. Part of his costume could still be seen on his skeleton when the mainstream Mark was stranded in that dimension later.[9]

Alternate Mark 18
FallingMark

Alternate Mark Eighteen is shown dying at the same time Alternate Mark Ten is, the only Alternate Mark who looks similar to him

Alternate Mark Eighteen looks very similar to Alternate Mark Ten, but does not have the same middle of the costume, or color of gloves and boots. This might have been overlooked as an error, if not for the fact that this Alternate Mark died at the same time Alternate Mark Ten did somewhere else, indicating that this is a different Alternate Mark. This Alternate Mark would strangely not arrive until the second day, as he is not shown in the Start Picture. When he does arrive, he would fight Pitt. Pitt would kill Alternate Mark Eighteen in the air by jamming his thumbs into his eyes and head, mutilating the inside of it. Pitt would fall with the body of Alternate Mark Eighteen and be severely injured upon landing.

Alternate Mark 19
OtherMark

Because there is a purple Invincible Reanimen, it stands to reason that Alternate Mark Two died and this is an Alternate Mark Nineteen

Alternate Mark Nineteen looks very similar to Alternate Mark Two, but has his hair exposed and has different-patterned gloves, legs, and boots. This might have been overlooked as an error, if not for the fact that there is one mostly-purple Alternate Mark Reanimen, and if this Alternate Mark was Alternate Mark Two, then there would be no explanation for that one. It is still justifiable for a nineteenth alternate Mark to exist, because as stated in Invincible #60, there are less than twenty Alternate Marks who fought in the Invincible War. This Alternate Mark would strangely not arrive until the second or third day, as he is not shown in the Start Picture. When he does arrive, he would lay waste to Tokyo by the third day before becoming stranded in an alternate dimension with the other seven alive Alternate Marks.

Reani-Marks

The number of Alternate Marks who died in the Invincible War and were later converted into Reanimen do not match up. There should be no more than eleven Alternate Mark Reanimen, yet in Invincible #84 there are at least thirteen countable Alternate Mark Reanimen in one panel. This could very well be an error, but if not, it is plausible that there were more than twenty Alternate Marks who fought in the War. It would explain how some Alternate Marks who died were not for sure seen as Reanimen, and how others were. It would also explain why when the first 16 Alternate Marks were gathered, Angstrom replied that it's a start, rather than acknowledge that his entire army would comprise of them. This could be explained by the fact that the news report stating that there were less than twenty Alternate Marks in the War occurred on the first day, and some Alternate Marks arrived on the second and maybe third days. This could also still be just one colossal error, that ties in the fact that only 16 Alternate Marks were seen in Invincible #58, the news report, and the careless art of the Reanimen.

The other Alternate Marks

There were some Alternate versions of Mark Grayson who did not fight in the Invincible War, and merely were seen or mentioned throughout the series. After all, an almost infinite amount of universes in the Image Multiverse exist, most of them containing a version of Mark Grayson. The first appeared in Invincible #16, and in this dimension Mark Grayson helped his father take over Earth. The only surviving heroes of the initial onslaught were Robot, the Immortal, and that dimension's Angstrom Levy. A long time passes, in which Angstrom Levy and the Immortal both become as highly intelligent as Robot, but Angstrom does not see eye-to-eye with the Immortal, much to the dismay of Robot. They have limited equipment to stop Invincible and Omni-Man. Some time passes, and Invincible runs through a scheduled broadcast in Times Square attempting to reassure the people of Earth that this is for the best, but any form of resistance will be terminated on sight. Angstrom returns to the heroes' headquarters, but does not look up and is seen by Omni-Man. Omni-Man and Invincible arrive and seemingly kill the Immortal and Robot, though due to Immortal's regenerative powers and Robot not being just a robot, they probably survived. Before Invincible and Omni-Man could kill Angstrom, however, the mainstream Angstrom Levy rescues him and takes him to the mainstream dimension, leaving Invincible and Omni-Man dumbfounded.

The second Alternate Mark was mentioned in Invincible #24, when the Mauler Twins of that dimension revealed that their Mark was killed almost a year ago and they did not get to watch. The third Alternate Mark was mentioned in Invincible #34. After that Mark killed Angstrom Levy, he somehow survived for fifteen years in the same alternate dimension which the Alternate Eight Marks from the War ate each other in. This means that the dimension is timeless, and there is a way to receive food, which the cannibalistic Alternate Marks could not find. Anyway, when the future Guardians of the Globe found the third Alternate Mark, he was considered lost to them. And in their dimension, much changed. Robot had been cloned into Rex's body and aged, Rex Sloan died, Bulletproof obviously aged, Kid Thor and Knockout joined the ranks, Atom Eve also obviously aged and never received a chance to tell her Mark that she loved him, and Monster Girl was given a new costume. Also, the dimension apparently is not a friendly one. Atom Eve was devastated, heartbroken, and in a bad place for a long time after she lost her Mark, and could not get over the fact that she never told him. Those Guardians also found the mainstream Mark within half an hour of his presumably killing Angstrom Levy, because there are four working time machines in their headquarters.

The fourth Alternate Mark was mentioned in Invincible #54. After that Mark somehow became leader of the Viltrumite Empire, the dimension went into a state of chaos. Society was on the brink of collapse. Later still, a version of the Scourge Virus arose and started to physcially shrink Viltrumites rather than kill them. Mark realized that he would not be taken seriously on Earth if he was as tall as an ant, so he left the Immortal in charge of Earth, even though he himself knew he was not a Viltrumite and could not do that. Mark made him Supreme Ruler, and took Atom Eve and his family and left, looking for a cure. The Immortal led the planet and restored order. Three hundred years passed, and by that time Fightmaster and Drop Kick were young adults. All the other superheroes and villains had died, including Dupli-Kate. The Immortal loved her so much that he never dated anyone else, and as time passed he forgot about her. The planet had become very high-tech, complete with futuristic flying robot guards that detect time travel devices with floating transportation. The Immortal lived in the upper levels of his citadel, known as his royal chambers. However, he lived alone for so long that he became detached and lost his mind. He wanted to die, and tried to do it himself but all the attempts failed because he keep reviving. So, he became a tyrant and started destroying the planet's resources, as well as killing people-including children-for amusement, all in an attempt to instigate his murder. He became the very thing he had fought against his whole life. Fightmaster's wife was brought to the Immortal, and that was the last time Fightmaster saw her. Fightmaster and his acquaintance Drop Kick started a global rebellion. They started studying various forms of martial arts until they became experts, and they became known as the heroes of their time against their king who supposedly lost his mind. The rebellion decided to supply Fightmaster and Drop Kick with a time-travelling floating scooter and make them steal artifacts from the past to save their future, where the Immortal would kill millions more people.

Finally, the fifth Alternate Mark was mentioned in Invincible #104. The Lizard League were far more dangerous than they are in the mainstream dimension. They came after Atom Eve, who had either fought them in the past or had fought Invincible in the past and knew of their relation towards each other through either their superhero or civilian identities. Atom Eve was also pregnant with that Mark's child, and she was so confident that she believed she could fight the League without her powers, because using them would kill her child. She died, taking her unborn child with her. That Mark snapped and became an evil Alternate version of Mark.

Notes Edit

  • In Invincible #33, the mainstream Angstrom Levy mentions that in forty percent of the realities where a Mark exists, his identity is public. He also mentions that he has not encountered a version of Oliver Grayson in any reality but the mainstream one up until that point, and so far another Oliver has not been seen or mentioned.
