The Authority is a team of superheroes in the Wildstorm Universe. Beginning as members of StormWatch, they declared themselves beyond the world's government. This allows them to better the planet without regard to politics. They operate out of a sentient Carrier, positioned between parallel universes in the Bleed. Their original line-up included Apollo, The Doctor, The Engineer, Jack Hawksmoor, Jenny Sparks, Midnighter and Swift. The Authority was created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, first appearing in the WildStorm publication The Authority #1. (1999)
