Synopsis for 1st story
Black Razor Cyril Fleming warns IO headquarters that Markov is the real threat, not Black Ops. Knowing Crane’s past with Markov, Rios begins to deduce what is going on. He also notices covert operations head Catherine Kwan has conspicuously gone missing. Aboard a plane in flight, Kwan orders the H.E.A.T.E.R.S., who work for her, to abort their support to Markov and destroy all evidence of IO involvement. Upon receiving their orders in Estonia, Cricket and Pinpoint grudgingly let Blacks Ops go. Unable to contact the team due to the EMP static, Geek lands with H.E.R.B. only to be attacked by Cannon Fodder, the last of the H.E.A.T.E.R.S. H.E.R.B. defeats the cyborg by knocking him into the disabled Defect, shorting out his systems. Meanwhile, Markov continues his bonding with the neural plasma weapon despite Dr. Misha’s warnings that it is still untested. Black Ops regroups and breaches the lab at the same time as Cricket and Pinpoint. Pinpoint fires at Geek, but H.E.R.B. takes the blast and explodes. Dr. Misha sabotages Markov’s weapon interface and informs Black Ops she has activated the base’s self-destruct sequence. The team returns to the Black Talon and takes off just before Markov’s base explodes. Later, Marisa Chambers meets John Lynch on the beach in California. As Black Ops’s secret contact inside IO, she asks him to intervene on the team’s behalf with Rios. Lynch reassures her IO will need Black Ops to go after Ivana Baiul and DV8.
