Synopsis for "Discharged"
Rocky-bodied Bloodpool member Horace Benson a.k.a. Rubble fumes at the news that the Bloodpool program is being shut down. His teammates and Shaft, who notified them, sympathize and try to calm him down to no avail. When Shaft explains that there was no guarantee any of them would have been promoted to Youngblood, Rubble pulls his own head off and throws it at Shaft. It bounces around the room until it hits the opossum-like Didelphis, knocking him out. Later, Shaft offers to let the Bloodpool members take some older equipment with them, but it is already gone. Shaft wishes them luck, and five members—Burke a.k.a. Fusion, Psilence, Rubble, Lily Lee a.k.a. Seoul, Task, and Del Sanders a.k.a. Wylder—leave in a jeep. Meanwhile, wealthy heir Denver Terry and his mistress are taken hostage in his limousine by his driver and a band of kidnappers. Bloodpool’s jeep accidentally crashes into the kidnappers’ van, and the team subdues them with their powers. Rather than call the police and risk exposing his extramarital affair, Terry writes Bloodpool a very generous check, enough to set them up as an independent superhero team. Didelphis is walking nearby and watches the excited Bloodpool drive away.
