Synopsis for 1st story
The issue begins with Bolt having breakfast with his family. Bolt says goodbye to his family and heads into the office. As he is walking into headquarters he gets attacked by a recently escaped giant purple villain.
Inside headquarters, Big Brain and the Meteor Twins are giving an interview to a reporter. They are telling the story of the Meteor Twin's origin. Marshall and Ed were grade school rivals. They were about to get into a fist fight when a meteor came crashing down on them. The government took them in to determine why they lived. But all they really found out about was that they had powers and how far they could get away from each other before they started to lose those powers.
They had to stay within 30 feet of each other or they would lose their powers. When World War II started the government put them in costumes and sent them out to fight. They met Big Brain shortly after that. The interviewer wonders why they didn't just go their separate ways and live normal lives. They explain that they would have been denying the world of two of it's most powerful defenders. The interviewer is impressed that they stayed near each other for the good of the world, especially since they couldn't stand each other.
Meanwhile, Commander Capitalism is meeting with Captain Cosmic. Captain Cosmic is looking for back pay for the time he was gone, especially since his now ex-wife blew all of his money when she thought he died. But Commander Capitalism explains that they have to treat his time displacement as a resurrection rather than dimensional displacement. When you are in another dimension you are still doing something and earning the pay. But the resurrection is basically like being asleep. So they can't pay him. Captain Cosmic walks out of the office angry.
Bolt comes walking in dragging the unconscious purple villain with him. Commander Capitalism tells him that is the only escaped villain that has been captured. Big Brain isn't happy about that and they are having a briefing.
Big Brain is explaining to the crew that they are really under the microscope and they need some positive results. So they need to help get this prison break situation taken care off. He is suspending lunches and sick time and putting everyone out on patrol until the criminals are rounded up.
Somewhere else in town, a couple of kids sneak into an abandoned house's basement to hide something they've stolen. The Nazi is in the basement. Seeing him scares the kids off but The Nazi just sits on the floor doing nothing.
Kid Thor and Knockout are out patrolling together and following up on a lead on one of the escaped villains. They are looking for Vault and he comes busting up from the sewer when they get near him.
Bolt and Commander Capitalism head out to check on Holly Winters. Her husband Thomas is Doc Cancer and is one of the escaped villains. When they arrive at Holly's house they find Thomas there sleeping. She tells them not to come any closer, that she has everything under control. She feels responsible for him. There was a lab accident that made her immortal. They tried to deal with it but he couldn't take it any more when he aged and people started mistaking her for his daughter. He tried to turn himself immortal as well to be with her but it had the side effect of becoming a super strong and deformed monster.
Bolt explains that they can't just leave him there. She knows that Thomas kills any man that even looks at her out of jealousy. He was serving multiple life sentences when he escaped. Thomas wakes up and sees the other two men there and attacks Bolt, knocking him out of the high rise window.
They land on the street right next to where Kid Thor and Knockout are fighting Vault. Bolt looks over and sees them and tricks Thomas into thinking that Vault was trying to be together with Holly. Thomas gets angry and attacks Vault. The two of them fight and end up knocking each other unconscious. They call in a detainment crew to round them up and Kid Thor asks Knockout out to dinner.
Commander Capitalism calls into headquarters and learns that the rest of the crews did well also. Most of the escapees have been caught. So he lets Bolt know that they can go home as soon as Thomas and Vault are picked up.
Back at headquarters, Claire Voyant comes on to Captain Cosmic and they head off to go to her place.
