Synopsis for 1st story
Crypt recollects a battle in 2043 in which Absolution, Judas, and their followers were ambushed by Wargame and the Disciples. Judas was wounded, and Absolution was forced to leave her behind to escape. The Disciples subsequently tortured her until she became one of their followers. Now, Crypt informs Judas that Absolution is in the present, allied with his enemies the Beholders. She wants to kill Absolution as revenge for leaving her to the Disciples, but Crypt tells her to wait. Elsewhere, the Beholders provide Absolution with a device that can destroy Crypt’s essence, and they teleport him to Crypt’s base in interdimensional space. He soon finds Crypt, but the villain stuns him by revealing Judas is still alive. Absolution explains how he thought she was dead, but she refuses to hear it. Crypt teleports them all to a ruined city in 2043 and attacks Absolution. While they battle, Judas realizes the city is where Absolution—the version of Prophet who raised her—first found her when she was a girl. Crypt clubs Absolution with a mangled tricycle and orders Judas to kill him. She refuses, recalling how Absolution gave her the tricycle as a gift when she was young, and stabs Crypt in the throat instead. Absolution gives her the device to destroy Crypt’s essence and suddenly disappears. She activates the device, but nothing happens. A fully healed Crypt tells her she is too late and that he has taken over Absolution’s body. He claims this is the moment when Prophet becomes Crypt. He then shoots Judas and teleports away, leaving her to bleed out and die.
