History
Life Prior to 1963[]
Dan Stevens was flying in a prototype jet on the brink of disintegration, shortly before he was taken in by the tractor beam of an alien spaceship. He was operated on by the ship's technology in an attempt to save him. However, they were unsuccessful and transferred his consciousness into a G-Body, where he was reborn as Hypernaut.
He would later face villains such as Numberjack, Pi-Face, and the Chess Set (who would return in Tales of the Uncanny #41, "The Chilling Chimes of Checkmate").
In Tales of the Uncanny #40, "The Coming of Cosmax", Hypernaut talked Cosmax into enrolling into a twelve-step program so that he could learn how to limit himself to a relatively "harmless three-comets-a-day habit."
It Came From...Higher Space![]
Onboard the space station Hyperbase One, Hypernaut and his pet monkey Queep received a transmission from Infra-Man regarding Tomorrow Syndicate affairs. However, he chose to begin a routine maintenance inspection on the station first and encountered a creature called 4-D Man, which formed from what appeared to be pieces of flesh materializing. Hypernaut was able to defeat 4-D Man with Queep's assistance.
From Here to Alternity[]
Hypernaut and the other members of the Tomorrow Syndicate were summoned to the Tomorrow Complex by Infra-Man after he had detected radiation signals coming from the Mystery Mile in Manhattan.
They entered a portal inside of the Mystery Mile and found themselves in the Time-Stream, where they had encountered the Victory Vanguard, including a past version of USA and the original Hypernaut.
After leaving the Time-Stream, they found themselves in a reality where they fought the Tomorrow Gang and the Orbiteer (Hypernaut's villainous counterpart). After crossing the Time-Stream again, they found themselves in a reality in which they had found the source of the radiation signal.
