History

Donna was Allen's wife, and mother of twins Ben and Billy. Donna and her husband struggled with bills and the responsibilities of raising a family as his shoe business teetered on the verge of bankruptcy.

Traveling from their home at Gainesville and seeking refuge in Atlanta, their car broke down, forcing Donna and her family to do the remainder of the trip on foot. They joined with Dale, Andrea, Amy, and Glenn to form the original band of survivors living in the makeshift camp on the outskirts of the city.[1]

As an elder member of the survivors, several years her husband's senior, Donna was quick to offer her often strong opinions. She balanced her outspoken nature with performing routine domestic tasks stereotypically associated with women, a role she did not always agree with, and an outmoded notion of femininity she expressed disdain towards.[2]

The survivors broke camp after an attack by several zombies devastated their ranks. Donna, Allen, and the twins piled into Dale's R.V. once more, as the entire group headed out on the open road in search of reliable shelter. The onset of winter brought the first snow, and on frigid morning the group pulled up to the promising gates of Wiltshire States, a private community of spacious homes protected from the world by high concrete walls.[3]

After a cursory sweep through a couple of dwellings, Rick and Tyreese cleaned out what appeared to be no more than a few straggling roamers. The survivors bedded down in their new homes. The following morning, the rising temperatures caused the accumulated snow to start melting. The group divided into smaller teams to make an exhaustive sweep of the area and clean out more houses where they could live in. Unfortunately, Donna entered into a house without paying much attention, and a zombie grabbed her and started biting off her face. It didn't take long for more zombies to gather around her and eat her remains. Desperate, Allen attempted to shoot at the zombies and save his wife, but it was already too late. The shot alerted the rest of the zombies horded inside the abandoned houses, and the group had to abandon the Estate, leaving Donna behind. Allen was willing to stay there and share Donna's fate, but Rick convinced him to keep going and return to his sons.[4]
