Synopsis for 1st story

Richard Walters a.k.a. Brick, a superhuman made of living mud, is playing with his adolescent children Shandi and Troy when their home, the sprawling high-tech base Skull Mountain, is attacked by evil Blood-Bots, agents of the Doom’s Corporation.  After dispersing Brick’s form with gunblasts, the cyborgs move onto attacking his teammates Kate McLellan a.k.a. the fire-wielding Burn and Jason Vanderveer a.k.a. the ghost-like Slyder.  Both defeat their attackers, but Burn flees for fear of losing control of her powers.  A Blood-Bot catches up with her but is quickly destroyed by her team’s leader Grimm, a cybernetic time traveler from the future.  Brick reassembles himself and takes down a squad of Blood-Bots while Burn, Grimm, and Slyder deal with the remaining attackers.  Half an hour later at Doom’s Corporation headquarters, the company head Syber-Idol, a mad cyborg, orders the activation of his next operative, Mech-Max.  With the location of Skull Mountain compromised, Doom’s IV prepare to pack up and leave. In a heated phone call, Burn breaks up with her fiancé.  Later, the team departs in their jet, unaware that Mech-Max has stowed away on the exterior of the craft.

Notes

  • Doom's IV was developed by Rob Liefeld in collaboration with American filmmaker Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. This mini-series is set after the events of a Doom's IV film that was to be released in 1996. The film would have portrayed the origins of the characters, and Liefeld was contractually forbidden from showing those events in comic form until after the film was released. But, the film was never made.
  • This issue was released with two variant covers by Liefeld, Danny Miki, and Kiko Taganashi. When combined with the variant cover of Doom's IV #2, they form a larger image. The cover of this issue featuring Brick is the left third of the image, and the cover featuring Grimm is the middle third.
