History

Esther Simmons is the wife of Bernard Simmons and mother of Albert Simmons, Marc Simmons and Richard Simmons.

While attending University she attended a black mass with her friends. At the mass she saw Mammon, and she became infatuated with him, and he promised that if she followed his instructions that she would give birth to a Messiah and he would eventually come back for her.

Esther & Mammon.

His first instruction was to marry Bernard. As they had children Esther attempted to raise them harshly to prepare them for their destinies while Bernard took a softer approach out of love. At some point Mammon put a spell around them and their house causing them to be invisible and their sons to forget about them. Spawn and Nyx eventually make their way to the house. Esther tells them her history and they let her know Mammon is a demon, a liar and will never come back for her. She dismisses them.

Trivia

• Esther's first appearance was issue 135 in the picture of Albert Simmons' home. She didn't make her first full appearance until Spawn Vol 1 172.
