HistoryEdit

Nychus was a supervillain from the Wildstorm universe. He first appeared in Volume 1 of the StormWatch series.

Little is known about Nychus. She was a part of the crew stationed aboard the Monitor One, a predecessor to the SkyWatch space station. However, a mysterious comet swept past the station, exposing many aboard to the horrific levels of radiation that killed many except for four individuals. These became the first of the Warguard, an extremely powerful team, yet utterly sadistic and insane.

Nychus and the Warguard (including Talos, Hexon and Despot were all incarcerated in cryogenic suspension aboard Skywatch[1]. She was released during a Daemonite invasion aboard Skywatch, during which the aliens possessed the Warguard as their host bodies. During the incident, Nychus and Hexon were jettisoned out into space by accident when a possessed Diane LaSalle shot out a window. She and Talos were both retrieved before they could reach Earth[2][3].

Nychus was next seen during the Wildstorm crisis in which the UN Council authorized the release of the Warguard to stop Lord Helspont. Despot refused to help and led his Warguard to their newfound freedom[4]. She joined the Warguard in an ambush on StormWatch on a lunar station[5] before following the StormWatch team aboard SkyWatch to finish them off. However, Nychus and the Warguard were lured into a trap on SkyWatch and thus left to die in the crash of the space station into the Death Valley desert[6]. However, the Warguard survived the crash and went on to battle StormWatch on Earth. Nychus fought and killed Undertow before being felled by the telepathic powers of Despot as he began his global cleansing of all free-will thinking people[7]. Since this event later became known as an alternate timeline, it is not known what became of Nychus and the Warguard, whether or not they remained dead or else remained aboard Skywatch. It could be speculated that because Battalion visited this event through the help of the time-traveler Timespan thus training himself for the battle with his father Despot, a battle in which he defeated his father, Battalion may have caused the Warguard to remain aboard Skywatch in their cryogenic suspension.
