HistoryEdit

Zond (commonly referred to as Comrade Zond by fellow Russians) was a villain from the Wildstorm universe. He first appeared in Volume 1 of the StormWatch series.

Zond is first introduced as a minor antagonist during StormWatcher Winter's mission in Russia. He is first seen leading a group of revolutionists into a maximum security facility in Sosnogorsk, Russia. After killing the guards, he and his team infiltrate the facility and reactivate a cybernetic combat unit known as M.A.D. 1, piloted by a revolutionist named Yevgraf[1].

Zond StormWatch Vol 1 No. 21

When Winter and his private team comprised of Henry Bendix and Cannon are captured by the M.A.D. units, Winter is met by his old acquaintance Zond and taken to a base in the Ural Mountains of Russia[2]. There, Zond shows his prisoners a stockpile of weapons and cyber-soldiers ready to be piloted by future revolutionists. However, when Zond takes Cannon and Winter to his boss, Cannon breaks free of his restraints and the M.A.D. unit that escorted the two prisoners in is revealed to be Bendix in disguise. A brief struggle follows, resulting in Cannon hurling a flaming ball of energy into Zond, killing him[3].
