Francis Takenaga

Francis Takenaga is a veteran comic‐book professional—best known for his work as a letterer, production designer and translator with Image Comics. He’s amassed over 100 credits since the mid-1990s, beginning with titles like Wetworks (1994–1998) and extending through multiple Spawn series.

Within the Spawn universe, Takenaga has frequently handled both lettering and design duties. He was the letterer on “Mandarin Spawn” (Spawn #165) and also served as designer on that standalone one-shot, as well as on the Spawn: Godslayer miniseries (2007–2008)

Beyond these roles, he translated Jūzō Tokoro’s Spawn Manga from Japanese into English for Image Comics, helping bring the series to Western readers.
