Synopsis for "Veni, Vidi, Vici!"
A month ago on Caballito Island, Ivana Baiul’s new team DV8, a.k.a. the Deviants, trained in virtual reality, hunting and killing a simulacrum of Fairchild. Afterward, Ivana expressed her continuing mistrust of Bliss to Threshold. In Rome in the present, Burnout reluctantly accepts Bliss’s help in rescuing Gen 13. First, they visit the site of the team’s battle with the Hand of God and find Rainmaker in the sewers below the street. Then, Bliss’s gen-active tracking device leads them into Vatican City. They break into the Order of the Cross’s headquarters via the men’s restroom while, in the detention center, the Inquisitor tries to interrogate Fairchild. She and Freefall break free, overcome the guards, and release Grunge. Bliss, Burnout, and Rainmaker find them just before they are again confronted by the Hand of God. Bliss uses one of Ivana’s backdoor passwords to give Caitlin access to the Order’s secret computer files. Fairchild then threatens to expose the Order’s operations. Later, having blackmailed the Order into setting them free, the team flies away in a Vatican jet. Bliss and Burnout kiss goodbye, and she parachutes out of the plane.
