Synopsis for "The Unreal World"
Caitlin struggles as a clumsy waitress at a La Jolla restaurant while, at a nearby Catholic school for girls, a socially isolated Roxy gets into a food fight with her classmates. Neither one has any memory of life with Gen 13. That night, they and everyone else are entranced by the nightly silent television broadcast of a man named Cull. The next day, Roxy visits the restaurant, and she and Caitlin recognize each other, restoring their memories. They find Lynch working as a girls’ soccer coach, and Caitlin restores his memory by shocking him with physical threats. They return to the team’s safehouse and find Bobby a disheveled amnesiac. Roxy lights his hands on fire, jarring his memory. The team realizes Cull is controlling the minds of the population. Next, using Lynch’s scanning technology, they locate Grunge socializing in an upscale bar, and Roxy stuns him into remembering who he is. Finally, the team finds Rainmaker living in an abandoned apartment, but her memory is intact. She reveals that Cull is not a telepath but rather engaging in mass hypnosis. Cull arrives and attacks. While the others distract him, Lynch has Grunge seemingly transform Cull into glass. Caitlin then shatters him, destroying his hypnotic illusions. The spirit of a woman calling herself Rhiannon emerges from Rainmaker’s body and reveals she psychically nudged the team to remember who they were and confront Cull. After she leaves to return to her real body, Sarah awakens and wonders what she missed.
