Synopsis for 1st story
Grifter wakes up with Alicia Turner as a captive of Mad Jack Power. Power uses telepathy to coerce Cash into recalling his past: his arrest for armed robbery as a teenager, joining U.S. special forces instead of going to prison, serving with Team 7, and gaining psionic abilities from exposure to Gen-Factor. Power exposes himself as a member of Team 7 when he is shocked to learn Cash killed teammate Andrew Johnson for using Gen-Active powers to control people. Turner gets loose and grabs a gun, but Power makes her hold it to her own head. He reveals he wants Grifter’s Gen-Factor. Cash lets Power into his mind, suppressing his Gen-Active powers using techniques learned from Zealot. He convinces Power that he gave his abilities to Turner so Power turns on her. She uses her own psychic powers to learn Power is Richard McNamara back from the dead. Grifter then unleashes his powers, tearing Power apart and freeing himself and Turner. McNamara explains that his power kept him alive after he committed suicide, enabling his mind to jump from one human host to another. But, his powers had begun to fade, and he wanted to take Grifter’s in order to survive. Cash tells him to use the power to truly die instead, and McNamara crumbles to dust.
