HistoryEdit
Origin
John Prophet was an adventurer in the early years of the 20th century, when he met Zartan. However, by 1937, he was homeless and destitute. He chose to be experimented on by Dr. Garnet Wells, a scientist using technology beyond anything on Earth at the time. Prophet surpassed Wells' expectations and Wells developed his natural athletic abilities to the point of superhuman strength, speed and stamina. Wells gave Prophet an "outlandish" uniform and weapons far beyond the limits of current science and put Prophet in a cryogenic sleep.[1]
1992
In 1992, Prophet's sleeping body was obtained by G.A.T.E. International in Germany. They called the superhero team Youngblood to transport him to the United States for further research, but Youngblood member Cougar accidentally pressed a button that awakened Prophet. At first, Prophet mistook the Youngblood for his mortal enemies, the Disciples of Doom, and briefly fought them. Then, the real Disciples of Doom arrived, along with a man named Jackson Kirby and his team, the Berzerkers.[1] Prophet fought alongside Youngblood's members Cougar, Sentinel, Riptide, Combat and Brahma, and Berzerkers members Jackson Kirby, Battleaxe, Cross, Grey, Psi-Storm and Wildmane. However, the Disciples knocked out everybody but Prophet.[2] Prophet received further assistance from Youngblood's "Home team," made up by Chapel, Shaft, Diehard, Vogue, Photon and Bedrock. They pushed back against the Disciples, but these were in turn joined by their master, Darkthornn.[3] Darkthornn defeated Prophet, but was forced to retreat to his home planet D'khay, by Youngblood member Psi-Fire. During the battle, Prophet lost contact with his communications satellite Direct Orbiting Communications Command, so he left Germany to reestablish the link, joined by Kirby, who decided to help him out because he saw something familiar in Prophet.[4]
Deathmate
Prophet encountered Solar from the Valiant Universe, who came to his own universe through a warp. They confronted Mothergod, who had also come from the Valiant Universe and learned of her plans to create "Unity". Prophet and Solar prevented her from doing so by defeating her and sending her into a portal.
While observing Youngblood, which included Bloodshot, at the Harada Power Plant, he was captured by Operation: Knightstrike, which included Eternal Warrior, who attempted to interrogate him, believing that he was working for Toyo Harada. The team freed Prophet, who joined them in fighting Youngblood, resulting in the deaths of his fellow team members.
