History
Origin[]
Marcus Langston grew in a poor family. In 1958, his father stole Storybook Smith's book and, believing it worthless, gave it to Marcus. Marcus read the book, discovering it to be magic and containing the history of his life, ripe for rewriting. Marcus found he would end up killed when trying to rob a liquor store, so he rewrote the story into a more favourable life.[2]
At 22, Marcus was contracted by the government to create many exoskeletons that could be used by the military at wartime.[2] In 1986, a video leaked showing the government used a secret task force called Operation: Knightstrike to execute undesirables overseas. In the wake of this scandal, General Cowell stopped allocating any more resources into Marcus' Exosuit Project. Feeling the government wanted to steal his credit once his job was done, and with all the budget in his hands now, Marcus altered the prototype irrevocably so that only he could use it.[3] In replacement of Knightstrike, Director Alexander Graves of the Pentagon finally debuted Youngblood, and Sentinel took his promised place in the team alongside Kh'ambt, Photon, Chapel, Battlestone and Diehard.[3]
That same year, Sentinel grew bored of his adventures, which he considered too tame. He rewrote his magical book to make reality nastier, shadowier and more violent, drawing forth a Dark Age.[2]
Judgement Day[]
In 1997, during a Youngblood barbecue at the Langston house, Riptide found Sentinel's magic book and recognized it. She took it and when Sentinel found about this, he went to Riptide's room in the Youngblood HQ while she was away to take it back. Riptide came back earlier and a fight ensued, which ended when Sentinel killed Riptide in cold blood. Sentinel arranged for Knightsabre to be framed for the murder, but during the trial, the book was found and the truth revealed. Sentinel tried to write in the book an outcome to cause an explosion from which he would be the only survivor, but the book was taken from his hands, he was caught and imprisoned in the Hell of Mirrors.[2]
Sentinel would resurface as leader of the villain team Badblood.[4]
Years later, he attended Shaft's funeral.[5] When a new team was being formed, his sister Kiesha Langston took the mantle of Sentinel.[6]Attributes
