History
In 1992, Martin Grant was an ally of the superhero team Brigade. He alerted its leader, John Stone, when a Code Red alarm rang out in Washington D.C., so Brigade could take care of it.[1]
When Brigade disappeared during a fight against the alien Genocide,[2] Martin wouldn't see them again for three months, until they returned from Genocide's planet, D'Vor, in a spaceship. Before he could talk to any of them, their headquarters was assaulted by the top-secret government strike team Bloodstrike, who shot Brigade member Stasis dead. Martin piloted Brigade's ship and crashed it into the building to cause a distraction, allowing John to board it while carrying Stasis's body, alongside teammates Thermal and a wounded Coldsnap. John directed Martin to fly them to G.A.T.E. International's Los Angeles compound, where a Doctor named Sandler would be able to bring Stasis back to life through a process called Project: Born Again.[3]
Following Martin's advice, Battlestone brought new members Boone and Hacker as reinforcements. Shortly after, Bloodstrike struck the G.A.T.E. facility, and everyone was present except for Kayo. When Hacker tracked him to Bloodstrike's jet, Martin went there and rescued him from a nutrient bath he was in. The two of them joined the all out battle in Los Angeles. Battlestone and Cabbot argued and beat the crap out of each other until Battlestone told Cabbot to leave Brigade alone or else he would expose Project: Born Again to the public. Finally, Cabbot told Battlestone to kill him, but Battlestone refused, saying letting him live was even worse, and left with Brigade. Brigade flew away in their jet, and Battlestone warned the team that Bloodstrike would come after them again, but letting them go sent a message to the puppet masters controlling their strings.[4]
