Synopsis for "A Moment of Madness"
The New Men come across Proctor’s lodge somehow intact. Dash runs inside and finds Proctor alive, but then Pilot seemingly shoots him. In reality, Dusk, Narcisse, Pilot, and Sundance have infiltrated New Haven and are battling G.A.T.E. guards. Dusk hacks the facility’s computer network and locates the New Men while Sundance takes off to confront Jedemiah Hagstrom. In the simulation, Proctor’s lodge explodes with Dash inside, but the team cannot find her body. The ersatz Exit emerges from a portal with Dash safe and sound. He reveals he is a Nameless One that Exit pulled him from a Genesis Pod and hid in interdimensional space. Later, as Exit was dying from wounds sustained fighting Reign, he had the Nameless One adopt his form and identity. While Dusk and Narcisse keep the G.A.T.E. guards at bay, Pilot goes to Khrysall’s lab and orders him to free the New Men. Dusk enters and says they must leave right away just before the wall explodes. Explosions rock the landscape, and the New Men realize they are in a simulation. They run to the ruins of Proctor’s cabin and wake up in reality. Khrysall is dead, but Hagstrom enters with more G.A.T.E. guards, and Pilot reveals they killed Dusk and Narcisse. Hagstrom presents a captive Sundance and demands the New Men work for him or die. Sundance unleashes her powers, incinerating the guards and exposing Hagstrom as a cyborg. He threatens to kill her until Pilot puts a gun to his head. He then orders the New Men to leave. Once they are outside, Pilot suggests they stick together, but Reign disagrees. He, Bootleg, and Dash have had enough of being superheroes and just want normal lives.
