Synopsis for 1st story
In ancient Rome, a past incarnation of Prophet refuses to renounce the Christian God in front of the Roman emperor and is publicly killed by lions in the Colosseum. In the present, Dr. Wells has Prophet in stasis in his Antarctic lab’s Resurrection Machine. With each life he lives, Prophet grows stronger. Just as Diabolique casts her spell transforming every man Glory has met into a woman, Wells sends Prophet back in time to 15th century France. Now female, Prophet becomes Joan of Arc and leads French forces against the English during the Hundred Years’ War. In the present, a feminized Roman under Diabolique’s control bursts into Wells’ lab and invites Wells to join her. Wells refuses and has a pair of droids restrain Roman. In 1430, Joan of Arc confronts the English alone and is captured. She is subsequently tried for heresy and witchcraft, tortured, and sentenced to death. The next year, she is burned at the stake in Rouen, but her martyrdom serves only to energize French forces. Wells returns Prophet, who is once again male, to the present and revives him in the Resurrection Machine. Diabolique’s spell has been reversed, and Roman is himself again as well, joking with Wells about the experience.
Notes
- This issue is a tie-in with the "Babewatch" crossover between Glory and Youngblood. In Youngblood vol. 2 #3, the sorceress Diabolique casts a spell transforming all the men Glory has met into women; in Glory vol. 1 #8, the spell is reversed.
- This story takes place after Supreme #30 and before Prophet vol. 2 #1.
