Detective Ray Sparks transferred to the homicide department of New York City Police Department 42 days ago before the Gretchen Culver accidents. He developed a steel trap memory which he got from his grandfather was the first to connect the missing car accident victim at the Mawbley crime scene with Gretchen Culver.

After Mawbley was killed by Suture, Sparks agreed to help Sam and Twitch investigate Suture in an unofficial capacity.
