Rebecca Reed is the superhero Firebird and the mother of Emily Reed, also known as Firebird.
History
Origins[]
Rebecca's mother left her and her father when she was little, causing her to grow up without a mother figure. When she was sixteen she started to develop pyrokinetic powers and became the superheroine known as Firebird. She eventually married a man and, before she divorced him, had a daughter named Emily that she was forced to send to a boarding school in order to protect her.[1]
Career[]
When Dominex attacked the planet Rebecca joined the battle against the powerful foe and, after seventeen hours, the combined forces of Earth's mightiest heroes managed to defeat the invader.[2]
Firebirds[]
Eventually Rebecca was gravely injured during a fight with Zero and was forced to have her daughter taken home to give her a blood transfusion. When her father revealed her true identity to Emily she was forced to train her in the use of her powers. Despite her lack of a mother figure she quickly bonded with her daughter and found herself enjoying their time together. One day Zero managed to escape captivity but she was unable to quickly respond to the alert due to a car accident. Emily took the chance to steal her costume and confront the villain but was quickly overpowered. Rebecca managed to reach the battle just in time to rescue her daughter and defeat the villain. After the battle she scolded Emily for her impulsivity but also praised her for her initiative.[1]
Rebecca and Emily helped the Dynamo 5 defeat the supercriminal Bonechill during his killing spree.[3]Attributes

- Flight: Rebecca has the ability of flying through the air at great speed.[1]
- Pyrokinesis: Rebecca has the ability of projecting fire and heat from her body with great skill and precision.[1]
- Superhuman Sight: Rebecca has the ability of seeing heat and can track heat signatures through solid objects.[1]
