Synopsis for 1st story
While meditating with an elder in upstate New York, Ripclaw senses a mystic disturbance nearby. He and the elder, Tallhorse, investigate and find a man mauled to death in a cabin and a woman hysterical with fear. Tallhorse recognizes this as the handiwork of Manitou, a vicious spirit. Ripclaw tracks it to Manhattan but arrives too late to prevent it from attacking another couple. From there, he follows Manitou to the Peterson Institute, realizing it has been summoned by his brother Michael who lies crippled inside. Manitou stops Ripclaw from entering and flies away, warning him not to get in its away. Elsewhere, Cyberdata personnel discuss the situation, seeking to tap the mystic energy of the Seneca land upstate. They too have deduced Michael is the culprit since he was once the subject of a Cyberdata experiment to exploit his summoning ability. The experiment was aborted when the being he summoned killed his parents. Upstate, Tallhorse summons Manitou and battles it, but it wins and forces him into the spirit realm. S.H.O.C.s attack the Peterson Institute, but Michael protects it with a force field. Inside, Ripclaw tries to talk his brother down, but Manitou appears and attacks him. As they fight, Michael realizes he has lost control of Manitou and begs his brother for help. Ripclaw destroys the Manitou’s form, sending it and Michael to the spirit realm. Ripclaw vows to recover Tallhorse and his brother.
