Synopsis for 1st story
The Sacred Gypsy Cult finds the Ptiiorish Mirror for the Direling Queen, and Kildare agrees to follow her back to her realm. Believing Kildare has switched sides, Ripclaw attacks him. Kildare teleports them all to the sewers and blasts Ripclaw. The witches are unable to activate the Mirror so the Queen commands that Kildare do so. He recites an incantation and, to her chagrin, shatters the mirror, leaving her trapped. She blames Ripclaw, morphs into her true form, and attacks him. Supercharged by Kildare’s magic, he punches her up through the street above and into the sunlight, causing her to decompose into a horde of scrambling rats. Later, Ripclaw meets Laura Pike for dinner, but she is hostile and cruel, calling him a monster. He storms out of the restaurant, and Clark, her archaeologist associate, congratulates her on a job well done. Ripclaw sees muggers attacking a man in an alley and kills them. When he gets home, he tries to meditate but instead claws at his own skin. There is a knock at the door, and Cyblade enters, but Ripclaw hallucinates that she is his dead lover, Misery.
