Synopsis for 1st story
Ripclaw kills two of the assassins sent to kill him just as Lilly, the woman who attacked him on the road, arrives. Frightened by his abilities, she reveals Kimata hired them. In Reno, Laura’s captor explains to her that she is bait to lure Ripclaw. In San Francisco, Dez tries to kill another of the mercenaries, Wardog, by blowing up his meeting with a local crime family. Wardog survives unscathed and beats up Dez before kicking him into the bay. In Antarctica, Kimata’s assistant informs him Ripclaw has arrived in Chinatown. The woman who arranged Laura’s capture interrupts via hologram and boasts that she will soon take Kimata’s job. In Chinatown, Wardog ambushes Ripclaw and they fight in the street. When he sees a little girl about to be run over by a car, Wardog saves her, allowing Ripclaw to continue tracking Laura. Near Cyberdata’s local base, Laura morphs into her wolf form due to the full Moon and kills her captor. Ripclaw finds her, but she attacks him. They tumble into the Cyberdata facility, and he is forced to kill her. Laura's abductor--a very much alive Misery--watches them with Kimata and gloats as Ripclaw is consumed with guilt and grief.
