Synopsis for "Das Kann Nicht Sein (This Cannot Be)"
On November 3, 1952, Hellboy fought Hitler, who was in a robotic body, before dying in a fiery explosion. Another Nazi found Hitler's body and saved his brain, which was later placed into BrainiApe.
On December 21, 1996, the Vicious Circle chained BrainiApe for pulling an unauthorized bank job and assigned him to kill the Dragon. Abner Cadaver informed Cyberface that Project: Born Again was a failure, meaning that he was decomposing and would soon be dead again. Cadaver summoned Horde in hopes of finding a cure for Cyberface's condition, although Horde insisted that Cyberface's usefulness was diminishing and that he should be replaced. On Christmas Day, the Dragon attended a party with Frank, during which Alex visited and gifted him a sweater.
Hellboy had a conversation by a train car before he was surrounded by vampires. The Dragon borrowed Frank's police car and stopped by Hellboy's location, as the vampires were frightened by Big Mummy coming out of a train car. Hellboy and the Dragon joined forces in fighting Big Mummy while BrainiApe observed. After Big Mummy crushed the Dragon with numerous train cars, Hellboy used a flare gun to cause an explosion around them. The vampires walked in on a Vicious Circle meeting that included Cyberface, Dataman, and Powerhouse.
Hellboy and the Dragon introduced themselves to each other before BrainiApe forced the former's hand into hitting the latter, while the vampire bit Cyberface.
