Synopsis for "The Wolves"

Two years after Team 7’s dissolution, Team 8 is wiped out on a mission in Cambodia.  John Lynch visits Deathblow in prison and, after assuring him they no longer work for Miles Craven, convinces him to help find the rest of Team 7.  They parachute into the Nicaraguan jungle and come across some ruins.  Cray finds a hand sticking out of the ground holding a key and takes the key as a souvenir.  He and Lynch meet up with U.S.-backed Contras and fend off an attack by the communist Sandinistas.  The Contras lead them into a remote valley where they encounter sudden gale force winds.  The source is the former members of Team 7 using their psychic powers.  Lynch asks their help, but Cash is hostile.  However, the others listen when Deathblow assures them the mission is legitimate. In the Soviet Union, Rostov has sensed Team 7’s use of their powers and is tasked with assembling a unit to locate and kill them. Reunited, Team 7 parachutes into Cambodia to find and destroy a secret nuclear missile bunker left behind by the U.S. during the Vietnam War.

Notes

Trivia

  • The key that Deathblow takes as a souvenir is one of the ignition keys to a Daemonite starship that crashed on Earth millennia ago. As revealed in StormWatch vol. 1 #22, the ruins he and Lynch come across in the Nicaraguan jungle are the remains of the Kherubim starship that crashed at the same time.
