Synopsis for 1st story
Cyberforce storms the mutant housing projects and confronts Mother-May-I over Velocity’s whereabouts. She recalls granting Velocity’s request and Velocity leaving shortly thereafter to lead Charnel away. Carin finds an abandoned neighborhood in the south Bronx and decides it will serve well as place for her to face Charnel. She remembers having Mother-May-I telepathically help her explore her past and identify the source of her timidity. Charnel arrives and begins chasing her. Velocity recalls relying on her older sister to protect her from childhood bullies and being physically abused by her stepfather. She stuns Charnel by bombarding him with junk at super-speed. Realizing she is who she is and that she must rely on what traits she has, she leads Charnel off the edge of a rooftop. He falls onto a girder sticking out of a trash heap below, impaling himself. Velocity soaks the heap in gasoline and threatens to light it on fire unless Charnel backs down. He refuses, and she sets the heap ablaze, burning him to death. Cyberforce arrives, and Carin realizes she can fight when she must.
