Quote1 The 'N' stands for nuclear, because radioactivity just makes me stronger! Quote2[src]

History

Before 1963[]

Dr. Will Chambers became N-Man after conducting an experiment in an attempt to make humans as resistant to radiation as beetles.

Eventually, the Soviet agent Grigor Kokarovitch stole his process and exprimented on himself, becoming Comrade Cockroach.

In Tales from Beyond #64, the General to N-Man as "Champers" instead of "Chambers."

In Tales from Beyond #65, N-Man defeated the Warsaw Pack (consisting of the Moscow Dynamo, Kommissar Kremlin, and two other members).

In Tales from Beyond #110, N-Man encountered Comrade Cockroach and defeated him in the Ragnarok Reactor.

Showdown In The Shimmering Zone![]

N-Man was sent on a mission by Colonel Powers to the ultra-radioactive zone in Yucca Flats to reach the Shimmering Zone. Before he could reach the Shimmering Zone, he fought Comrade Cockroach again. The battle ended with N-Man's victory after Comrade Cockroach was shrunken upon getting in range of the Shimmering Zone. After his mission, he was reunited with his lover Sally Stevens and Colonel Powers.

From Here to Alternity![]

N-Man arrived at the Tomorrow Complex in Mount Rushmore, where he argued with Hypernaut until Horus had arrived and broken them up. Infra-Man briefed the Tomorrow Syndicate on mysterious weapons that the Fury had delivered to them. He revealed that the weapons emitted traces of radiation similar to those found in Manhattan. They traced the radiation to Mystery Incorporated's headquarters, the Mystery Mile, then to a portal into the Time-Stream, where they encountered the Victory Vanguard from the 1940's, including a past version of U.S.A. Both teams arrived at the Lobby of Alternity where the Tomorrow Syndicate attempted to gain information on the whereabouts of Mystery Incorporated. After leaving, they arrived in a parallel world where they fought their villainous counterparts, the Tomorrow Gang; N-Man fought Hiroshiman in Mount Rushmore. After escaping, they defeated Hypernaut's villainous counterpart, the Orbiteer. They visited several more parallel worlds through the Time-Stream until finally arriving in the one where they traced the radiation signals.

I'd Rather Be In 1963[]

When ShadowHawk was transported to 1963, the Fury, now a member of the Tomorrow Syndicate, notified his teammates about the hero from the future. ShadowHawk told them about his disease that currently did not exist in 1963 and asked Horus to try to cure him, although this was unsuccessful. Then, ShadowHawk suggested that the virus originated with Comrade Cockroach in 1963 and that if they stopped him, they could prevent the disease from spreading. ShadowHawk and the Tomorrow Syndicate attacked Comrade Cockroach in his laboratory. In anticipation, the communist agent had also gathered allies consisting of Anubis, the Red Brain, Doctor Apocalypse, the Voidoid, and the Beastnik. N-Man fought Comrade Cockroach who injected an agent who later escaped. Then, they visited Johnny Beyond who also failed to cure ShadowHawk.
