Synopsis for 1st story
The new Youngblood field team consisting of Diehard, Shaft, Badrock, Vogue, Knightsabre, and Riptide is in Washington, D.C. pursuing kidnappers. A support team led by Dade Forsythe is coordinating communications. In the sewers, Diehard comes across several dead bodies and a message in blood written on the wall. Earlier, Shaft argued with his girlfriend about his continuing membership in the team following his removal as field leader. At the Pentagon, Sentinel debated the Youngblood roster with Battlestone and Keever. Stone appointed Diehard as the new field leader, defended Shaft’s demotion, and raised the possibility of bringing Chapel back to the team. When they announced the new field team roster, Knightsabre angrily refused to follow Diehard, calling him a machine. In the present, two of the kidnappers—Adam and Eve—assault Forsythe’s undercover support van. Riptide hits them with a water blast but is brought down by their teammate Soil. Diehard saves her, and Badrock rescues the van while the rest of Youngblood regroups. The villains vanish, but the team finds one of their hostages. She explains that Adam, Eve, and Soil are eco-terrorists calling themselves Greenscape. They attacked the government lab where she works, and they were looking for something. That night, Battlestone’s boss chastises Stone for the team’s performance and announces he is adding someone to the roster to facilitate his vision. In the Himalayas, Diabolique has awakened and stands over the corpse of the climber who found her.
